O Christmas Tree....O Christmas Tree......

Yesterday Me, Matt, Liz, & Jordan all went up to Ashton to cut our trees! On the way up we stopped at warm river to feed the fishies! Liz and Jordan had never done it before so that was fun. We had some chips in the truck so we fed those to the fish. Matt stuck our sweet water proof camera under water and got some cool pics of the fat fishes!

After that we went tree hunting! Here is what we found....

Lonely Christmas Ornaments :(

Growing up we ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS put up our Christmas tree the day after (or the day of) Thanksgiving. Well, this year, since we were gone for turkey day and the following days- we have yet to get a tree. I have all of my decorations out, some are placed and looking festive, others are misplaced and waiting for someone to hang them on a tree, put them under a tree, or staple them to the house. Here are some of my sad little lonely Christmas ornaments, lights, and presents....poor little guys! :(

Happy Turkey Day from Colorado!

This year we got to do something I have never done for Thanksgiving...travel! That's right, I have NEVER EVER in my WHOLE life been away from home for Thanksgiving! (or any other big holiday come to think of it......) Matt's parents invited us to spend the week of Thanksgiving at a condo in Steamboat Springs, CO. The Yampa River runs right through Steamboat and has some good trout and pike fishin. So, of course we said we'd go ;-)!!! The drive down was about 8 hours...not too bad besides I couldn't sleep for the life of me..!!! ahh! We got in late Sunday night and got settled in. Monday we went shopping and explored the town. It was fun to see the snow-maker-thingys making snow on the different snow hills around us and seeing all of the new scenery. There were TONS of condos all smooshed together at the base of the moutains and then a cute downtown with lots of fun stores. The river runs right through town and it is open to catch and release fishing all through town. The girls (matts little sisters) went swimming at a fun hot springs place with a rock wall and slide. Matt and I ditched out on them to go fishing and explore the city a little more.

We all went ice skateing at an indoor rink. Matt didn't wat to go, but once he got there he loved it...he saw all the little boys who play hockey racing around the rink, so Matt tried to be like them and said that he wanted to "GO FAST"...it was hilarious watching him try it. And yes, he did eat it good :). I didn't get good pics at the rink...Kathy and Krys did though so I need to get those to post.

On Thanksgiving we had a catering place make our food and deliver it for us. IT WAS YUMMMMY! One of the best turkey day meals i've had! (Thanks Daren & Kathy!!!!!!) We also went to the movie theater twice while we were there. We saw Twilight (of course!!!) and I liked it (not love, I LOVED the books, liked the movie) Matt wanted to die the whole time, then we went to see Madagascar 2....we like to move it move it....!!!! One of the days we took a short hike up to Fish Creek Falls.

It would have been fun to take the other path that goes to the base of the falls, but it was snowed in and we didn't have the right gear to make it down to it. But it was cool to see...and on the path up to it we saw this cute little furry guy on the side...any ideas on what he is????

On Friday (last day to play) Matt and I decided to go up to the dam at Stagecoach Resevoir to do a little more fishin. It had snowed all night so we weren't sure what to expect. We found our way up there okay and the weather was overcast. About a half an hour into fishin it started to snow! It was really cool though!

It stopped after a bit though. Anyway...the water in the river was so clear you could see the fishies!!! It was pretty much all sight fishing which is awesome....especially if they bite!..which they didn't :) We didn't get to fish a whole lot, but we saw enough that it made us want to for sure take a trip back to the Yampa!
The next morning we headed home with 3inches of snow on the ground and more falling! All in all it was a fabulous trip and i'm glad we got to tag along!!!!

Our little float...

Last Saturday we decided we needed to go on a float in Matt's dad's drift boat (thanks Daren :)...) before we left for our week long hoorah in Colorado (pictures to come). So, we ran into town in the AM to grab a few last minute supplies and then headed to Lorenzo Bridge to start our little float. We got on the river about 12:30 or so. I was nervous because I have never floated the Snake in a drift boat (only in my dad's big 'ol Woolridge with big motor and what not...), so I had visions of scary, high, fast water and us being without a motor...but luckily it was very low and extremely slow! The float was SOOO beautiful! There was "cranberry" colored bushes and "moss" colored plants and "golden" colored plants.....I had to correct Matt many times, he thought they were red, green, and yellow plants... :) Anyway...I loved the colors and decided I need to decorate my house in them...then I got home and looked around my house and realized I pretty much already have decorated in those colors...silly me. Back to the fishing...we anchored a couple of times and wade fished. I caught a little white fish and a little brown and Matt caught NOTTA! Which is always nice because then I get to rub it in :). (Love you sweetie!) Well, we were enjoying our time and then it started getting dark...fast....and we weren't near the dock. Not cool in my book...I wasn't planning on a moonlight float. So my feet stared to FREEZE. It was joyus. Matt, being the stud muffin husband that he is, showed off his man power and SPEED rowed us to the ramp. I'm sure the fact that I was huddled in a ball being a whimp about my feet made him go a lot faster.... thanks hunny!
Luckily we got to the dock right as it was almost dark and my feet didn't have to be amputated! It was a fun trip though... nice shallow water, pretty scenery, me catching the most fish, and not losing any toes....i'll definately do it again! -maybe next time i'll invest in feet warmers...........

Sleep Over @ Our House!

Labor day weekend we got to have Gabe, Seth, & Mia stay over at our house. It was SOOO FUN! The boys played in our jacuzzi tub and thought it was pretty dang cool. I had fun being girly with Mia and did her hair and painted her finger nails! She also wore around my tiara I used for my wedding...she was a pretty little princess! All of the kids sure had fun wrestling uncle Matt. We have our matress pulled out in our living room in between our couches, so it made a great trampoline for the kids! It was hard to get them settled down after that! It was a little rough sleeping with them though: Mia (she sleeps in circles and is a kicker!) and gabe rolled off the couch onto Matt and Seth rolled off the other couch onto me (three times). So that was quite the experience! But they were so fun and so good! Here are some pictures and a video of the highlights!
